SHREWSBURY – Police have converged on the Edgewater Avenue neighborhood, where a search is underway for a shooting suspect.
Shrewsbury police said they are seeking “an armed and dangerous suspect.” The search involves Jordan Pond.
The nearby Calvin Coolidge Elementary School has been placed on lockdown. School officials, in a message to staff and families, said the incident did not involve the school. Students who were headed to school by bus were rerouted to Beal School.
“All Coolidge students and staff are safe,” the message states.
Neighbors were told by police to stay inside. Businesses in the area have locked their doors.
Edgewater Avenue is south of Route 9, across from Whole Foods Market.
