GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Heads up, readers! You can browse thousands of used books at a steep discount at the Grand Rapids Public Library’s (GRPL) fall book sale.

Presented by Friends of the Grand Rapids Public Library, the annual book sale is a major fundraiser for the library. GRPL officials said the spring book sale drew in record attendance in April—so they are holding another on Oct. 4-5.

“Our annual book sale has become so popular that we’ve decided to offer another chance for our community to come out and fill their home book shelves or classrooms with materials,” said Katie Zychowski, Marketing & Communications Director.

There will be both new and used selections from every genre. You can also find music and movies at the sale. The items up for sale will be refreshed throughout the weekend.

Proceeds from the sale go toward the library’s operational costs.

“The outpouring of support has been incredible, and attendance keeps growing year after year,” said Zychowski. “This fall, we’re expanding the event with new ways for attendees to connect and engage—our way of meeting community demand while making sure the experience stays welcoming, exciting, and memorable for everyone.”

The book sale runs Saturday, Oct. 4 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Books are 50 cents each. It is open on Sunday, Oct. 5 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., and you can get a grocery bag full of books for $5.

Rare and collector items will be priced separately.
