Visitation at the prison has been canceled except for legal and DES visits, the statement said.Â
The department said they were notified of the break on Thursday. The only units at the prison that are not affected are the Eagle Point and Sunrise units. Temporary water resources, including drinking water, are available for inmates and staff, the statement said.Â
All outdoor activity for inmates has been canceled to “help prevent any heat-related incidents,” the statement said.Â
“Housing unit temperatures are being closely monitored to assist with mitigating heat concerns, and additional cooling methods have been implemented, including large area cooling fans,” the department said.Â
Repairs on the water main are underway, officials said. Inmates are receiving updates through their tablets and unit staff, officials said.Â
Officials did not tell 12News what, if any, impacts the water main break has on operations outside of drinking water.
