Vail and areas of the upper Eagle River Valley including EagleVail and Minturn are experiencing an extended interruption in Comcast Xfinity service due to a construction mishap in the area, a representative from the company confirmed on Thursday.

Zach Pagano, the public relations manager for the Mountain West region at Comcast, issued an apology for the outage on Thursday.

“We’re aware that a third-party construction company damaged our fiber lines earlier today, resulting in a service interruption for our customers in the Vail Valley area,” Pagano said. “Our teams are working quickly to make repairs. We know any time without service is frustrating, and we apologize for the inconvenience to our customers.”

The outage began before noon on Thursday. Comcast, in an email to customers, said it expected to have service back by 6:40 p.m. Thursday.
