40/29 News obtained the audio from the first call to authorities on Monday that was later deemed a hoax.In the nearly 3 minute call, a person is heard claiming a gunman was inside Mullins Library on the Fayetteville campus.The caller said they were hiding under a desk in the library for their safety. “We’re at Mullins library. We just saw a man with a rifle.” The caller told a dispatcher. Gunshots could also be heard during the recording. “We can see, he’s walking towards the library right now.” The caller said before gunshots are heard. University of Arkansas Police department said there would be more than 300 calls after the initial call. Authorities would later clear buildings of students barricaded. Nearly 3 hours after the first call, the all clear was given and the situation was called a hoax.

In the nearly 3 minute call, a person is heard claiming a gunman was inside Mullins Library on the Fayetteville campus.

The caller said they were hiding under a desk in the library for their safety.
