Miley Cyrus is the face of Maison Margiela

Since its inception in 1988, the house of Maison Margiela has steered clear of featuring celebrities in its campaigns — that is, until now. On Thursday, Miley Cyrus was unveiled as the new star of the brand’s autumn-winter 2025 Avant-Première Collection in a series of “painterly portraits” shot by Paolo Roversi.

Margiela describes the shoot as “stripped-back,” with Cyrus “immersed in the core codes and archetypal expressions of the maison,” according to a press release. A few images feature the singer’s body slathered in white paint, which aims to pay “homage to the Maison’s white-overpaint bianchetto technique introduced in 1989” that was originally used on furniture in the brand’s studio.

Cyrus has worn Margiela looks before, including to promote her single “Used to Be Young” in 2023, at the Grammys in 2024, and at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party in 2025, but this particular moment seems a lot more … intense. “The nudes by Paolo are so iconic and signature to his art,” Cyrus said, per the press release. “Standing naked for a fashion campaign felt major, all I wore was body paint and the signature painted Tabi boots. In that moment, Margiela and I became one.” Wow!

The collection revolves around “saving and salvaging” clothes and the notion that “our most cherished staples show significant signs of use.” They’re crinkled, torn up, mended, and handed down through generations, and the techniques used to create the collection reflect that. The Tabis worn by Cyrus, for example, were molded “like a timeworn shoe bent into shape by stomping out cigarettes.” Sounds like a perfect match.
