GENESEE COUNTY, Mich. (WNEM) – A beloved program providing free books to children is coming to an end in Genesee County.
The Dolly Parton Imagination Library will be paused indefinitely starting September 1.
The Flint and Genesee Literacy Network said it’s due to federal funding ending.
The literacy network said the program placed more than 300,000 books into the hands of almost 2,000 children across the county since its launch in 2016.
Families will continue receiving books through the end of September.
The literacy network said those who want to help should reach out to their local, state and federal lawmakers.
