Arnold Fire Chief Eric Gartley told Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 that crews were responding to a garage fire when they received a call about flames emitting from inside a home within the 1900 block of Kenneth Avenue in Arnold. Officials said the garage fire was extinguished quickly and that first responders were on the scene of the home just before 8 p.m. Gartley said five people were inside when it started. He said it appeared at least one person may have jumped from the building to escape. “There had been a person found in between the two buildings – the 2 houses – we assume they jumped from the upper floors – there was also reports of an individual still trapped inside the building,” he said. Crews were able to rescue the person trapped inside. Three people were said to have been taken to the hospital by ambulance, while one was airlifted. The extent of their injuries was not made immediately available. An additional person was said to have refused medical treatment.
