The Kazakh spoke on Louis Armstrong after wrapping up that straight-sets win. Here’s what she said:
💬 “Really happy with the performance. It’s not easy to play against Emma. Sometimes the score doesn’t show it but she is a tough competitor and I’m pretty happy with the way I played and am looking forward to the next match.
“Throughout the whole year, for some reason the U.S. Open wasn’t really successful for me so hopefully that will change. Really happy that now I’m getting through and hopefully I can go as far as possible.
“Thank you so much guys for the support.”
The ninth seed then discussed some of her thrill-seeking interests off court…
“It’s true (I want to try skydiving), I love to do these kind of things when I have more time. Of course, when you only have one or two days, it’s more calm, rest, doing nothing. But I would love to do skydiving one day.”
