Teenage tennis sensation Mirra Andreeva hasn’t shied away from letting the tour – and the world – know who she’s crushing on.
The tennis world has been captured by the romance rumors swirling around Emma Raducanu and Carlos Alcaraz following their US Open mixed doubles partnership earlier this month.
But it’s not the Spanish hotshot who’s caught Andreeva’s eye. It’s someone much older.
The 18-year-old, who only turned professional two years ago, admitted that she thinks Andy Murray, 38, has aged ‘like fine wine.’
The Russian starlet has previously described the married Brit, who won his first Grand Slam when Andreeva was just five years old, as ‘beautiful.’ And that admiration shows no sign of fading.
‘When I talked about him and said I always liked him, I didn’t expect it to go viral,’ she said in an interview with the Tennis Channel during the US Open this week.

‘When I saw that it did, I tried to avoid running into him in person, keeping my distance because it made me very shy knowing that everyone knew what I thought. But when I see him now, I must say he’s ageing like fine wine. I look at him and think… Oh yes. He’s great.’
Andreeva has gushed over Murray in the past, admitting that she has been left starstruck by the retired three-time Grand Slam winner.
‘When you sit here and take in all the stars, like Andy Murray, you see his face,’ she said after seeing Murray at the 2023 Madrid Open. ‘He is so beautiful in life. Sorry, he is so amazing.’
She congratulated Murray after he won a Challenger title in France ahead of the French Open Roland Garros later that year and was left floored when she received a reply.
‘He actually answered me, so I was really happy about it,’ she said. ‘He said: ‘Thank you and good luck in Roland Garros’.’
Andreeva went on to reach the third round of the French Open that year and hailed Murray as her good luck charm.
She later revealed that she was too ‘shy’ to speak to the former world No 1 after bumping into him at Wimbledon a month later.
Meanwhile, Murray has been a strong supporter of the rising star, leaping to her defense when she was criticized by a commentator during the 2024 Australian Open.

‘Andreeva down 5-1 in third. Commentator ‘she really needs to work on mental side of her game.. she’s too hard on herself when she’s losing’ 30 minutes later 7-6 Andreeva wins,’ he posted on X.
‘Maybe the reason she turned the match round is because of her mental strength. Maybe she turned the match around because she is hard on herself and demands more of herself when she’s losing/playing badly? Winner.’
‘Honestly, I will try to print it out somehow. I don’t know, I will put it in a frame,’ a gleeful Andreeva said.
‘I will bring it everywhere with me. I will maybe put it on the wall so I can see it every day.’
The British tennis great, who officially retired from playing last year, celebrated his 10th wedding anniversary with wife Kim Sears in April of this year.
The pair began dating in 2005 when she was 17 and he was 18 after meeting at the US Open.
The couple married in Dunblane Cathedral on April 11, 2015 followed by a small reception for family and friends at his luxury Cromlix hotel.
They’ve welcomed four children together: Sophia, nine, Edie, seven, Teddie, five, and a four-year-old thought to be called Lola.
