SALT LAKE CITY – Legendary coach and college football analyst Lee Corso will take his seat on ESPN’s College GameDay for the final time Saturday, capping nearly 40 years as a host.
To honor his career, let’s look back at every time Corso and the ESPN crew have touched down in the state of Utah.

Lee Corso’s Legacy: College GameDay In Utah
Utah vs. BYU in 2004
The first time the show visited Utah was on November 20, 2004, as the No. 5 Utes hosted the BYU Cougars.
Unsurprisingly, Corso picked the undefeated Utah football squad, wearing a swoop head, much to the enjoyment of the Salt Lake City crowd.
Utah went on to beat BYU, 52-21.
BYU vs. TCU in 2009
The second time in Utah was the first in Provo, as the No. 16 Cougars hosted the No. 8 Horned Frogs on October 24, 2009.
Corso played the BYU crowd, picking up Cosmo’s head before throwing it to the side and putting on the TCU mascot head for his pick.
Ultimately, he was right as TCU defeated BYU, 38-7, at Lavell Edwards Stadium.
Utah vs. TCU in 2010
College GameDay’s third visit to the Beehive State brought them back to SLC as the No. 5 Utes hosted the No. 3 Horned Frogs on November 6, 2010.
Corso showed local college fans he wasn’t afraid to pick the visitors. However, he made sure that Utah fans got the memo, too, throwing on the Horned Frogs’ head once again.
He remained perfect on his picks in Utah as TCU stomped Utah at Rice-Eccles, 47-7.
Utah vs. Cal in 2015
The next visit was back in SLC five years later as the No. 5 Utah Utes hosted the No. 23 Cal Golden Bears on October 10, 2015.
Sitting next to Utah Jazz legend John Stockton, Corso threw on the swoop head for the second time in his career.
Utah went on to beat the Golden Bears 30-24, and Corso improved to 4-0 on his picks in the state.
Utah vs. Washington in 2016
A year later, the crew came back to Utah as the No. 17 Utes hosted the No. 4 Washington Huskies on October 29, 2016.
Corso put on the Huskies’ head this time, and to no one’s surprise, he was right as Washington beat Utah 31-24.
Utah vs. Oregon in 2023
The most recent College GameDay visit was in 2023, as the No. 13 Utes took on the No. 8 Ducks.
Corso wasn’t with the crew due to a family matter. The table was split with two people picking Oregon and the other two taking Utah.
The Ducks went on to smack the Utes, 35-6.
That’s it for the crew coming to the state, but there are a few more times BYU and Utah have been Saturday’s featured game.
Utah @ TCU on November 14, 2009. Corso picked TCU, and the Horned Frogs won 55-28.
BYU @ Coastal Carolina on December 5, 2020. There were no picks, but the Chanticleers beat the Cougars 22-17.
Gameday also covered both of Utah’s back-to-back Rose Bowl appearances in 2022 and 2023. Corso picked Ohio State in 2022 and was right, then he picked Utah in 2023 and was wrong.
