LAWRENCE, Kan. (WIBW) – Kansas football racked up over 600 total yards in a dominant 46-7 victory over Wagner on Friday night.
Hayden High School alum DeShawn Hanika got the Jayhawks on the board first with a 4-yard touchdown reception in the opening quarter. Quarterback Jalon Daniels had a stellar performance, tossing four touchdowns and finishing 18-of-25 for 280 yards, along with an interception.
Backup quarterbacks Cole Ballard and Isaiah Marshall each saw action in the second half, getting time under center in the third and fourth quarters.
Alabama transfer Emmanuel Henderson led the receiving corps with two touchdowns, including a spectacular 62-yard score to start the second half. Ball State transfer Cam Pickett added this third TD reception too.
Running back Daniel Hishaw added his first touchdown of the season, breaking loose for a 20-yard run in the second quarter. Harry Stewart III put the finishing touches on the Seahawks with a 1-yard TD run in the fourth.
With the win, Kansas improves to 2-0, while Wagner falls to 0-1.
Next up for the Jayhawks is a trip to Columbia, Missouri, on Saturday, September 6, where they’ll renew the StorageMart Border Showdown against the Tigers.
