Could a new secondary Colorado Avalanche logo be in the works? A never-before-seen design has made its way onto caps in the New Era store.

It’s a combination of the streaming puck from the team’s main logo that wraps around the A, but instead, it’s inside the team’s C logo that they wear on the shoulders and represents the Colorado state flag. That secondary logo is a replacement for the team’s first alternate logo, which was a footprint of the team’s now extinct mascot, Howler. In going with the C, the Avalanche threw it back a bit to the NHL’s Rockies and paid homage to the state.

It would be cool to see the team combine elements from both their logos for something cool like the cap below. However, I already believe this is just for merchandising and likely not a hint at a new logo. New Era has a Deceptor line, which combines two different logos for those teams and puts them on one cap. So this is likely a New Era design rather than a hidden cap that’s yet to come. Though it is fun to think about and maybe a cool idea for the team in the future.

Well that’s a new logo I’ve never seen…

But there does seem to be a hint of a new Avalanche jersey coming soon, possibly this year. Icethetics reported earlier this summer that, “Colorado may be cooking up a jersey bombshell for fans of the classics.” He shares that it could be a throwback, but since the team’s current active jerseys are already inspired by their original look, could Nordiques jerseys be coming? The team did that for the Winter Classic a few years ag,o then again on the reverse retro.

At the very least, the Avalanche actually do have a new logo for this winter — a 30th anniversary logo.
