A teenager from Orono writes a children’s book about embracing differences through a puppy’s journey.

FALCON HEIGHTS, Minn. — A teenager from Orono has written a children’s book about how bravery begins with loving yourself.

“Angel’s Big Splash” is about Mallory Habstritt and her journey with vitiligo, a skin condition that causes the loss of color or pigmentation.

Written in collaboration with her mother, Annalee Habstritt, it’s a sweet friendship book for kids about a little pup that discovers how differences make us all special.

Angel is worried about making friends at school—what if the other pups laugh because she’s different?

With support from her new friends at Pup Prep, Angel learns that the white patches from her vitiligo make her a puppy masterpiece.

Angel’s Big Splash is an inspiring tale that encourages children to celebrate the uniqueness of those around them.

Mallory and Annalee joined KARE 11 Saturday to discuss the book.
