CHAMPAIGN — Brad Underwood probably got a bit impatient in waiting for Mihailo Petrovic‘s arrival, but the Illinois basketball coach said on Friday that he never felt nervous that the Serbian point guard would eventually arrive.

“I felt pretty good because there was some things that just took time, and time was the only cure for it. There was no rushing it. There was no picking up the phone. It was just the process had to happen,” Underwood told Illini Inquirer. “So we always felt very confident that we were in a good place.”

After committing to Illinois in April, Petrovic finally made it to the UI campus last week following months of working through academic and visa clearance. His arrival completes the Illinois roster just in time for fall workouts and giving Illinois a key cog in its potentially dangerous offensive machine for the 2025-26 season.
