As an avid reader, I’m constantly looking for new and unique ways to enjoy books — and meet other book-loving people. I recently attended Sugar & Spice Co.‘s first-ever book club, and I was not disappointed. Surrounded by like-minded women, on-theme decorations, and specialty cocktails, I think it’s safe to say I found my new favorite gathering in Nashville!
Walking up to Flamingo Cocktail Club, a cozy cocktail lounge in Wedgewood-Houston, it was hard to miss the pink-and-red mobile bookstore parked outside. After perusing a few romance-centric selections inside the truck, I made my way inside, where no detail was left overlooked.

This month’s pick was Till Summer Do Us Part by Megan Quinn. A spicy love story, the book follows Scottie, who finds herself lying about being married to impress her coworkers. Her lie quickly spirals out of control, landing her at an eight-day marriage counseling summer camp with her best friend’s brother, Wilder, who also happens to be her fake husband. What could possibly go wrong?
The evening was full of laughter, games like Would You Rather? and Who Said That?, a specialty cocktail inspired by the book, and a lively discussion that kept my small group engaged and laughing from start to finish.

If you love books (specifically romance novels), community, or just an excuse to enjoy a fun night out, Sugar & Spice Co.’s book club is an absolute must. From the engaging discussions to laugh-out-loud games, it felt more like a celebration than a stereotypical book club. Not to mention the mobile bookshop itself is so fun to explore!
The second installment is scheduled for September 29 at Flamingo Cocktail Club. While spots are likely to fill up, you’re highly encouraged to join the wait list, as this may inspire a second session to be added!
