NEW YORK (PIX11) – The Federal Government has hundreds of jobs in the New York and New Jersey area, and some positions can also be done remotely, according to USAJobs.
Federal employees enjoy a variety of benefits, including medical insurance, life insurance, and student loan repayment and forgiveness.
Employees working for the federal government also begin their positions with 13 paid vacation days per year, which can increase up to 26 days. This does not include the 12 paid sick days and 11 paid holidays that federal employees are entitled to, according to a government website.
Currently, there is a job opening in New York for a General Radiologist at the Department of Veterans Affairs.
The starting pay is $300,000, according to the listing. The radiologist is expected to work onsite, interpret CT and MRI results, issue reports, and communicate findings in accordance with the medical center’s policies.
A Probation Officer is needed in Brooklyn; the starting pay for this role is $69,685, according to the listing. Duties include investigating employment, sources of income, lifestyle, and associates of defendants, as well as analyzing criminal history information.
In East Orange, New Jersey, a Therapeutic Medical Physicist is needed; the starting pay for this position is $152,142, according to the listing.
Duties include protecting patients and others from potentially harmful or excessive radiation, properly operating radiation equipment, and overseeing radiation therapy treatment planning.
In Philadelphia, a Supervisory Air Traffic Control Specialist is needed; the starting pay is $186,036, according to the listing.
Duties include supervising a team of Air Traffic Control Specialists, setting work priorities and schedules, and evaluating employee performance.
Although a hiring freeze is in effect until October 15, 2025, the positions are still listed, and applications are being accepted until the closing date.
