The Washington Mystics lost to the Golden State Valkyries, 99-62 on Saturday night at Chase Center in San Francisco. Washington is now 16-24 and officially out of playoff contention.

This game was nothing short of an ass kicking at the Mystics’ expense. Washington was overwhelmed early, only scoring eight points in the first quarter. Then the floodgates let loose in the second quarter as the Mystics turned the ball over 7 times in that quarter alone. Ultimately, they were behind 51-22 after the first half.

Then in the third quarter, the Mystics allowed Valkyries to shoot 84.6 percent (11-of-13 that quarter). Golden State committed more turnovers here but they still outscored Washington 27-21. The fourth quarter was a wash.

Sug Sutton led the Mystics with 17 points on 6-of-10 shooting while Sonia Citron added 11 points. For the Valkyries, Janelle Salaun led with 20 points and 6 rebounds. Five Golden State players scored in double figures.

The Mystics will play the Los Angeles Sparks tomorrow. Tipoff is at 8 p.m. ET. See you then.
