SORRENTO, Maine (WGME) — A Maine fisherman made an unexpected discovery in his buoy this week.
According to the Midcoast Villager, fisherman Jordan Piper found a large shark tooth while hauling traps.
He was working off Little Stave Island near Sorrento when he spotted it.
The Maine Department of Marine Resources confirmed it’s from a great white shark.
They say sharks are known to bite objects such as buoys.
Piper says the tooth measures nearly three inches long.
