With the transfer portal playing such a huge role in how college basketball rosters are built these days it is more difficult than ever to know the different rosters in your league. For that reason we will be breaking down the transfer portal classes of every single team in the SEC with a multiple part series. If you haven’t yet read part two, you can do so here. Here is part three

 

Alabama
Keitenn Bristow (Tarleton State)

Jalil Bethea (Miami)
Noah Williamson (Bucknell)
Taylor Bol Bowen (Florida State)

 

Alabama’s success recently is made much more impressive by the fact that they do not have NIL resources comparable to top SEC teams and have been finding ways to win by finding less heralded pieces that fill rolls. Once again they find themselves with a class that is much less impressive than most teams in the league, and we’ll have to see exactly what Nate Oats is able to accomplish with them.
Keitenn Bristow is a 6’8” forward who showed some nice face up ability at Tarleton State as a freshman.
Jalil Bethea, a 6’5” wing, is also a freshman. He had some nice moments but ultimately wasn’t particularly relied upon, and Alabama will hope his best years are in Tuscaloosa. It’s also clear that Alabama was looking to get younger players in order to hopefully get more valuable with their NIL dollars.
Noah Williamson is a very fun player from Bucknell who averaged 17.6 points per game at Bucknell. Standing at 7’0” and 250 pounds he won’t struggle with SEC size, though the pace of the game should be an adjustment.
Taylor Bol Bowen is a traditional Florida State big–a tall, skinny athlete who can catch lobs and block shots. 

 

Texas
Simeon Wilcher (St. John’s)
Lassina Traore (Xavier)
Matas Vokietaitas (FAU)
Cam Heide (Purdue)

Dailyn Swain (Xavier)
This will be the first year of the Sean Miller era at Texas, and he brought over two of his favorite pieces from Xavier. Lassina Traore didn’t actually play a game for Xavier, as he suffered a season-ending injury before the year even started after transferring from Long Beach State. Miller loves Traore and saw it as a chance to hold on to a great player who wouldn’t be recruited heavily, and he’ll add depth to the frontcourt as long as he’s fully healthy. Also coming to Texas from Xavier is Dailyn Swain, a 6’7” wing who is excellent in transition.
Simeon Wilcher was a big part of St. John’s tremendous defense, and while he isn’t the most dangerous offensive player he is going to be a top perimeter defender in the SEC.
Matas Vokietaitas will still have three years of eligibility remaining and he was rock solid as a freshman for Florida Atlantic averaging 10.2 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. Standing at 7’0” and weighing 245 pounds, he definitely looks the part of an SEC center.
Finally, Texas landed Cam Heide from Purdue. Heide hasn’t played much in his two years at Purdue but he shot the three incredibly on a small sample size, and Miller is hoping that more time on the court will make him one of the best shooters in the country. 

 

Ole Miss

James Scott (Louisville)
Koren Johnson (Louisville)

Travis Perry (Kentucky)
Augusto Cassia (Butler)
AJ Storr (Kansas)
Corey Chest (LSU)
Kezza Giffa (High Point)
Another team bringing in a huge class is Ole Miss who has talent coming in at a lot of positions.
Coming from Louisville are teammates James Scott and Koren Johnson. Scott, a 6’11” center, has never fully reached the potential that many scouts saw and Chris Beard thinks he could be the guy to unlock it. Koren Johnson had an interesting season at Washington that saw him earn a spot at Louisville, though he suffered a season ending injury after just two games.
Travis Perry was a big time high school player in the state of Kentucky and chose to go to the University of Kentucky, though after a freshman season where he wasn’t used much he’s trying the other big school.
Augusto Cassia is another upside play, as the Brazilian native never fully got his feet under him at Butler.
AJ Storr is back looking for the perfect fit after he was dominant at Wisconsin scoring 16.8 points a game before struggling last season at Kansas where he lost his offensive confidence. He’s a strong 6’6” wing built for the SEC.
Corey Chest was an excellent shot blocker in his freshman season at LSU, and will be looking to showcase more of his game.
Kezza Giffa is the most fun player Ole Miss acquired. The native of Paris was an important player for High Point who was one of the best mid-major teams in the country last season. An undersized guard, the physicality of the league could cause issues, but he has excellent feel and makes his teammates better.
