Masses at the oldest Catholic church in Greene County have been canceled following a fire that broke out Saturday night.In a release from the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh, a fire occurred at the Saint Ann site of Saint Matthias Parish in Waynesburg, Greene County, overnight.The diocese said while the main body of the church appears to be intact, adjoining spaces inside suffered “extensive damage.” “Pennsylvania State Police are investigating to determine the nature of the fire,” the release said. “We are grateful to God that no one was injured.” All Masses at Saint Ann are canceled for this week, and the diocesan Jubilee Mass scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 6, 2025, has been postponed.The diocese said Saint Ann Church was founded in 1839 and is the oldest Catholic church in Greene County.An investigation is ongoing.
