For the second time this year, CBS’ freshman sudser Beyond the Gates is in repeats for a holiday week.

Beginning today, the soap will air episodes 45 through 49 before returning to originals on September 8. The last time CBS put BTS on repeats was during the July 4 holiday week.

Before CBS Prods and Procter & Gamble developed BTS, week-long breaks weren’t common for daytime dramas. Typically, the sudsers only break for a day.

But BTG is different. Besides the fact that it’s the first soap to be launched since Passions in 1999, it also premiered in February and is on a different production and air cycle. As fans have noted, it got a shorter episodic order than The Young & the Restless and The Bold & The Beautiful.

Ardent fans have tried to remind others of the circumstances, but that hasn’t stopped some from worrying about the future of the drama from Michele Val Jean.
