The Sparks lead the season series 2-1, but are 2.5 games behind the Storm in the standings, and two games back of the Indiana Fever for the final playoff spot. Los Angeles already clinched the season series and the tiebreaker over the Fever, and a win Monday means the team clinches the tiebreaker over Seattle as well. The Storm, Fever and Golden State Valkyries currently hold the final three playoff spots and if the Sparks can hold the tiebreaker over two of the three, it will drastically improve their shot of sneaking into the postseason. with only a handful of regular season games remaining.

Seattle is 22-19 and in seventh in the standings, percentage points behind the Valkyries, who have played two less games than Seattle so far. The Storm have won five of their last six with their last win, a 79-69 triumph over the Chicago Sky, featuring six players scoring in double-figures. Nneka Ogwumike led the team with 20 while Gabby Williams, Ezi Magbegor, Skylar Diggins, Brittney Sykes and Erica Wheeler combined for the other 59 points.

The Sparks are on the second night of a back-to-back that opened with an 81-78 win over the Washington Mystics that moved their record to 18-20. Prior to that, Los Angeles dropped a 1-point game to the Fever. The Sparks close their season with five of their final six games, counting Monday, coming against teams currently in the playoffs, including two in Atlanta against the Dream and a trip to Phoenix to face the Mercury.
