Wildlife sightings are common in the Crown Pointe neighborhood of Collier County, but one resident had an exceptionally unusual encounter.

Laura Curro said she spotted a big black bear in her backyard on Sunday afternoon.

Curro took a photo of the bear, but upon closer inspection, she noticed it had company—a coyote following closely behind.

“I realized there was a coyote following the bear, like 10 feet behind it. They were just kind of like out for an afternoon stroll,” Curro said. “They weren’t, Coyote wasn’t chasing it or anything, but anyway, they were just walking along, this will never happen again in my lifetime. I’ll never see this kind of, kind of weird.”

The Crown Pointe neighborhood borders a preserve, so Curro is no stranger to wildlife sightings. However, she said she had never seen anything like this before.

Curro speculated that the bear and coyote might have been drawn to her backyard by the beautiful benches, possibly hoping to find a sweet treat.
