Tonight’s episode of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai begins with Abhira desperately calling out for Maira while Abhir and a police constable help her stand up. Abhira once again imagines Maira, who, in her vision, says that she came all the way from Mount Abu for her, but Abhira is a bad mother. Shocked by this, Abhira tries to reach Maira, begging her not to say such things and asking her to trust her. She pleads that she has not committed any crime and is not responsible for the murder of Anshuman.
However, in her imagination, Maira accuses her of creating distance between herself, Armaan, and Geetu, and now claims Abhira is also leaving her. Abhira continues to picture Maira saying that she sacrificed everything for Abhira and calls her a bad mother before running away. Seeing this in her thoughts, Abhira breaks down, crying and pleading with Maira not to leave her. She collapses, devastated, while Armaan, watching from a distance, becomes emotional with tears in his eyes.
Shocking News for the Poddars
At the Poddar house, Maira decides to call Armaan to ask where they are. Just then, the sound of a car horn is heard, and everyone feels a sense of joy. Believing that Abhira has returned, Maira happily takes a bouquet of flowers and runs outside, while Kaveri instructs Vidya to prepare the aarti plate.
Soon, Krish and Tanya walk in. Maira immediately asks Krish about Abhira, but he stays quiet. When Kaveri questions him if Abhira is outside, Krish finally reveals the heartbreaking news to the family, that he won the case, and Abhira has been sentenced to life imprisonment. This shatters Kaveri, Vidya, Kajal, and Manisha, leaving them all in tears.
Maira’s Breakdown

Maira is unable to understand the situation and repeatedly asks what Krish just said. Looking around at everyone crying, she breaks down further, throwing away the bouquet in frustration. She recalls how Armaan had promised that her mother would return home today, which is why they had all prepared such delicious food. In her pain, she asks where her mother is and again demands to know what Krish meant. When she insists on knowing when Abhira will come back, Krish finally tells her that Abhira will never return from prison.
At the same time, Kiara asks Armaan and Abhir to step out of the car. She somehow manages to bring Armaan outside, while Abhir questions him anxiously about bail, insisting that his sister will not be able to survive in jail. Meanwhile, Maira cries out, declaring that her mother is innocent and cannot be punished, reminding everyone that Armaan had promised Abhira’s return. Overcome with emotion, she rushes out of the house, determined to bring her mother back herself. Hearing Maira call out for Abhira leaves Armaan shaken, but instead of confronting her, he runs away. Maira continues to desperately call for Abhira as the Poddars try to console her broken heart.
Abhira’s Life in Prison
Meanwhile, Kesari comes to know about Abhira’s imprisonment. At the jail, Abhira changes into the prison uniform and makes a small request—she wishes to take Maira’s letter with her inside the cell. Armaan, haunted by his guilt, imagines Abhira accusing him of once again creating distance between her and Maira. He begs for her trust, but Kaveri lashes out at him, claiming that Armaan only wins Abhira’s faith to betray it later. She blames him for not fighting strongly enough for her release. Even Abhira herself, torn with grief, says Armaan has separated her from Maira. With Abhir, Kaveri, and Vidya holding him responsible, Armaan continues to defend himself, insisting he truly tried to save Abhira.
Inside prison, Abhira sits in despair, worried that she may never get the chance to see Maira again. Her misery deepens when Kesari snatches Maira’s letter from her hands and threatens to tear it apart. Before she can succeed, Jaya intervenes and rescues Abhira. Later, Kesari approaches another inmate, telling her about Abhira’s entry into jail. The woman smirks, saying it will be “fun” to deal with her.

Back at the Poddar house, Kiara tries to comfort Abhir and offers to get him anything he needs. However, Abhir holds her back, embraces her, and bitterly calls her the “worst brother,” leaving Kiara stunned and speechless.

Elsewhere in the jail, Abhira sits down to eat along with the other inmates while Jaya encourages her to have something. As Abhira recalls her moments with Maira, a pregnant inmate approaches and asks if Abhira is not eating, suggesting that she could take one roti. Abhira agrees. Jaya then offers to feed her a little, but Kesari suddenly intervenes and slaps Jaya for insisting. Angered by this, Abhira questions Kesari’s actions, only to be silenced when Kesari slaps Jaya again.
Mocking Abhira, Kesari announces that her first day in jail must be made special. She grabs Abhira’s plate, starts eating from it herself, and orders the other prisoners to finish their meals quickly while she counts. Abhira watches Kesari’s display of dominance helplessly. Kesari then puts the plate back in Abhira’s hands, washes her hands in it, rinses her mouth with water into the plate, and calls it her “shagun,” instructing everyone else to do the same.
Kesari further humiliates Abhira by commanding her to wash all the inmates’ utensils, warning that she will beat Jaya if she refuses. One by one, the other prisoners place their utensils in Abhira’s hands. Kesari taunts her, saying that this day will be remembered for a long time. Overwhelmed and broken by the relentless humiliation, Abhira finally bursts into tears.
