Christopher Bell – Last summer at Gateway, Christopher Bell was the class of the field but finished an asterisk mark 7th. In the race, Bell won Stage #1, won Stage #2, led the most laps (80), earned the best Driver Rating, had the best average running position (4.3), drove from about the mid-teens to the lead in the last Stage but once he got up to the front again, the #20 engine started to go south and Bell faded back to his 7th.
Ryan Blaney – Ryan Blaney finished 24th last summer at Gateway but you can easily disregard that result. On the very last lap while leading, Blaney ran out of gas which led to his poor result. In the race, Blaney finished 3rd in Stage #1, finished 3rd in Stage #2, had the 3rd best Total Speed Ranking, led 20 laps and had a 6.2 average running position.
Kyle Busch – Kyle Busch was a top ten performer last year at Gateway but he finished 35th. In the race, Busch started 10th, led 15 laps early in Stage #2 but then at the conclusion of Stage #2 while battling for 7th, Busch and Larson got together which led to a wrecked #8. In terms of Total Speed Rankings, Busch ranked 8th.
