EXCLUSIVE: Phillip Sun is exiting M88, five years after forming the representation firm with Charles D. King, sources said. I’m told that Michael B. Jordan, Gemma Chan, Yayha Abdul-Mateen II, Simu Liu and Caleb McLaughlin are among the signature clients who will exit with Sun.

The well regarded rep, who has long leaned into diversity and inclusion in his client coterie, is expected to form his own firm. Sun had been a top young agent at WME before joining former WME-er King in forming M88, becoming its president and managing partner.

Attempts to reach Sun were unavailing.

M88’s King (he reps Ryan Coogler) and Sun teamed with WME to put together one of the great movie package deals in recent memory in the Warner Bros sale of Sinners. That film should be a player in the awards-season race and was one of the bright spots of the 2025 theatrical calendar, grossing $366 million on a $90 million budget. Point is, Sun’s next move is going to be an important one.

Stay tuned.
