Maybe Lenny Kravitz is always on the run, but he’ll never miss a call from his pal Denzel Washington

The 70-year-old Oscar winner surprised an audience when he decided to FaceTime the “I Belong With You” singer while visiting Jimmy Kimmel Live on Tuesday.

“He may not pick up. He may be working,” Washington cautioned, to which host Jimmy Kimmel responded, “I hope he’s working out. I like to see him do some of those sit-ups.”

But like a true friend, Kravitz answered the call.

“Kravitz!” Washington cheered. “What’s up, boy?! Wait a minute! I’m here with Jimmy.”

The Highest 2 Lowest star then turned the phone around to face Kimmel, unveiling a smiling Kravitz to the cameras.

“Hey Lenny, how ya doing?” Kimmel said, giving the singer a little wave. “How are ya?”

Washington then showed off Kravitz to the roaring crowd. “They’re all your fans, Lenny!” he teased. “You wanna do a song?”

Kravitz went on to reveal what he’d been up to before Washington’s unexpected call. “I just got out of the shower!” the four-time Grammy winner exclaimed, prompting Kimmel to laugh and shout, “Oh, wow! Oh! Hey now!”

Washington then selected an audience member to come up on stage and say hello. “One of your fans here,” he explained as she greeted the musician and complimented his appearance.

“Thank you!” Kravitz replied. “I just came back from the gym, took a shower, and the phone rang, so…”

To which the fan responded, “Well, Jimmy’s gonna be jealous because he wanted to see your body.”

Kimmel quietly nodded. “I did. Next time, Lenny,” he said.

“Next phone call,” Kravitz teased.

“Alright, brother, love you,” Washington said before ending the call.

Before the impromptu FaceTime chat, Washington revealed that he’s met a bunch of other celebrities through his friendship with Kravitz, including George Clinton and Mick Jagger.

“Lenny is something else, isn’t he?” Kimmel remarked. “He’s like a superhuman being. I watched his workout videos and he’s a very attractive man.”
