If there’s one director that Jeffrey Wright loves to collaborate with again, it’s Wes Anderson. The Westworld actor opens up about his experience working on Anderson’s films and explains why he would always return.

Academy Award nominee Jeffrey Wright has gained recognition for his roles in The French Dispatch, Asteroid City, Westworld, and The Last of Us. He has worked with Anderson on films such as The French Dispatch, Asteroid City, and the most recent, The Phoenician Scheme.
In an interview with Collider, Wright talked about his experience collaborating with Anderson over the years. Anderson’s name came up as Wright shared how he juggled shooting Highest 2 Lowest and The Phoenician Scheme simultaneously.
Wright praises Anderson and calls his role in The French Dispatch one of the most beautiful he has received. “That character, Roebuck Wright, was just so beautifully written and so lyrical, poetical, melancholy, and so thoughtful,” Wright shared.“ His use of language is so considered, and I was just really moved by it when he sent it to me. It stuck with me immediately. I just couldn’t get it out of my head,” he recalls.
Wright continued to talk about how he will always say yes to Anderson, no matter the size of the role. He said, “It does not matter what the part is. [Wes] will call or email and say, ‘Hey, I’ve got a new piece. Here it is. Give it a read. Let me know what you think, if you want to.’”
The actor also admits that although he knows he will say yes, he does not need to read the script. He does it as a form of respect for the job. He explains, “I just have such respect for him and trust in him. I very much appreciate the trust he has in me in helping him to realize these various visions that he conjures up in his films.”
