Ethan Hawke’s The Grabber Rises From the Dead in Black Phone 2 Trailer

A new trailer for Black Phone 2 has been released.

Universal Pictures and Blumhouse Productions’ The Black Phone was released in June 2022. Directed by Doctor Strange and Sinister’s Scott Derrickson, the film stars Mason Thames as Finney, Madeleine McGraw as Gwen, and Ethan Hawke as the Grabber.

Given that The Black Phone made over $160 million at the worldwide box office, a sequel is now arriving next month. Derrickson returns to direct Black Phone 2, while Thames, McGraw, and Hawke all reprise their respective roles.

What happens in the Black Phone 2 trailer?

The Grabber may have died at the end of the first Black Phone movie; however, the Black Phone 2 trailer sees him still trying to kill Finn from beyond the grave. The synopsis further reads, “As Finn, now 17, struggles with life after his captivity, the headstrong 15-year-old Gwen begins receiving calls in her dreams from the black phone and seeing disturbing visions of three boys being stalked at a winter camp known as Alpine Lake.

“Determined to solve the mystery and end the torment for both her and her brother, Gwen persuades Finn to visit the camp during a winter storm. There, she uncovers a shattering intersection between The Grabber and her own family’s history. Together, she and Finn must confront a killer who has grown more powerful in death and more significant to them than either could imagine.”

Based on characters created by Joe Hill, the script for Black Phone 2 comes from Derrickson & C. Robert Cargill. The cast further includes Demián Bichir, Arianna Rivas, Miguel Mora, Jeremy Davies, Maev Beaty, and Graham Abbey. Derrickson, Cargill, and Jason Blum produce the movie, while Ryan Turek, Adam Hendricks, Daniel Bekerman, and Jason Blumenfeld serve as executive producers.

Black Phone 2 arrives on October 17, 2025.
