WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – The public can now submit comments for the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission’s (NCWRC) proposed changes to hunting, fishing and game land regulations.
Changes include prohibiting elk calf rehabilitation, preventing anyone with convictions for violating wildlife captivity and rehabilitation rules in the past three years from receiving a license, and requiring modifications to an animal’s enclosure within 10 business days after verification.
The agency is accepting comments until Sept. 15. Virtual public hearings will be held on Aug. 5 and Aug. 7.
NCWRC commissioners will consider the proposed changes at their meeting on Oct. 25. If adopted, the changes will take effect as of Aug. 1, 2026.
The virtual hearings on Aug. 5 and Aug. 7 will be held at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. respectively. You can register for the Aug. 5 meeting, the Aug. 7 meeting, or join by calling (833) 568-8864.
