“How low do you have to be to boo a crippled.”
In July 2025, Aaron Reutzel suffered from a broken foot in a crash at Eldora Speedway. The crash sent him into surgery.
Reutzel flipped during the 30-lap Kings Royal preliminary race at Eldora. He flipped into turn one and was clipped by both Zach Hampton and Steven Snyder Jr.
The driver was in a battle for the High Limit Racing championship. However, after the injury he was forced to miss 8 High Limit Races.
He made his return at Port Royal Speedway on September 4th with limited mobility. He finished 11th, narrowly missing a top 10.
On Friday at the same track, he drove to the race win. Reutzel was fitted with a custom made carbon fiber shoe, just to be able to drive the car. And he drove it right to victory lane.
He climbed out in victory lane and grabbed a set of crutches. And he was met with boos from the crowd…

Aaron Reutzel comments
“How low do you have to be to boo a crippled,” Aaron Reutzel stated from victory lane.
“Honestly, I needed my foot to heal up a little faster. It was taking a long time. Finally, I had enough.”
“Really, it was trying to figure out how to do it, stay safe and not further damage myself. I was honestly nervous when I committed to do it.”
“This shoe here, it’s basically like wearing my walking boot, my cast. It’s solid but still small enough to get in the car. It would never happen with a regular boot.”
“Yesterday, it took a lot to figure out how to run the car this way, with no feeling. I’m used to feeling the pedal with my toes.”
“My leg is wore out. This is cool. It’s a little emotional, it’s a lot. That was a big one.”
“And, I’ve never had to sit out on the sidelines. It sucked. Definitely, one of my better years, ever, speed wise.”
“It’s the worst time to get hurt. I could think of a lot of other years, if I had to pick a year to get hurt it wouldn’t have been this one.”
“Two trips to the hospital this year. It’s been a really trying year. But, we keep overcoming it.”
The High Limit Racing drivers will be back in action on the same track for Saturday night’s finale of the event.
