The Brooklyn Nets have been making plenty of moves this offseason as they are remaking a roster that finished the 2024-25 season with a lowly 26-56 record. Brooklyn has been operating as a team in search of draft compensation and/or young players, but they are also looking to get an advantage on other teams outside of just adding players to the team.
HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto reported on Friday that the Nets are going to hire former NBA player Acie Law as the Director of Player Personnel heading into the upcoming 2025-26 campaign. Law was most recently the Director of Amateur Scouting for the Oklahoma City Thunder, a team that Law had been with since the 2023-24 season when he was initially hired at his position.

Since Law became the Director of Amateur Scouting for the Thunder, Oklahoma City has selected forward Keyontae Johnson, guard Nikola Topic, center Thomas Sorber, and guard Brooks Barnhizer in the past three NBA Drafts. Not to mention that the Thunder have had an impressive draft resume under general manager Sam Presti, including center Chet Holmgren and forward Jalen Williams being taken in the 2022 Draft.
With the Nets in the beginning stages of a rebuild, scouting players at the amateur level and making sure that the prospects on Brooklyn’s board match up with where the franchise is heading. The Nets selected five players in the 2025 NBA Draft and the hope is that at least one of those players can show some potential in the 2025-26 season to give general manager Sean Marks and company confidence in the future.
The Nets selected guard Egor Demin with the eighth overall pick in the Draft, followed by guard Nolan Traore (19th), Drake Powell (22nd), guard Ben Saraf (26th), and forward Danny Wolf (27th). Based on Brooklyn hiring Law, the hope is that he can enhance the scouting department at a time when the franchise is hoping that they can find their next franchise in the Draft.
