On Saturday, they cleared a roster spot as they begin preparations for Week 2 against the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Eagles announced Saturday evening that they had waived offensive lineman Kenyon Green.
Green is a guard. The Eagles got him in a trade this offseason from the Houston Texans.
He originally entered the NFL as a first-round pick, No. 15 overall, and he started in 23 of the 27 regular season games he was active for with the Texans.
Green was with the Eagles through training camp and the preseason.
On cutdown day, Philadelphia waived Green for the first time.

When Green cleared waivers, the Eagles signed him to the practice squad. From there, they elevated him to the active roster.
Now, though, the Eagles decided they don’t want the 24-year old guard on the active roster anymore.
His roster spot is vacant at the moment.
The Eagles would’ve needed to clear one for newly signed pass rusher Za’Darius Smith, but with fullback Ben VanSumeran going on Injured Reserve, Smith could just move into that spot.
That leaves Green’s spot open. The Eagles may signal their overall thinking on this move only once they sign someone new, which will display what position they felt needed some more depth on their roster.

Green’s pedigree means he’ll likely get another chance sooner rather than later, but for now, he’s on waivers, available to be claimed before potentially becoming a free agent.
