FERGUSON, Mo. – Wildlife crews have made progress in their cleanup efforts at a home in Ferguson that has been inundated with raccoons and trash.

FOX 2 obtained video footage over the weekend showing wildlife crews capturing about four raccoons and two possums.

“This house is infested. I know when (crew members were) moving the debris and furniture, (the animals) were running wild; it was like 8 or 9 of them,” said Robin Jackson, who lives next door to the infested home.

In a call for help, Jackson contacted FOX 2 last week, saying she was fed up with the junk piling up at her neighbor’s house and animals roaming free.

“No one wants to come visit me. Every time someone comes over here, they are here for a minute and they are leaving,” Jackson said.

The city of Ferguson confirmed with FOX 2 on Monday that it reset traps across the home as a precaution.

Residents told FOX 2 that while the front yard is clear, the backyard is still overgrown with tall weeds and trash. They believe the backyard is a hiding place for some animals.

“It’s horrible and it’s getting worse by the year. It’s been growing constantly,” said Marcus Macon, another neighbor.

FOX 2 made multiple attempts to reach out to the homeowner for a comment but never received a response. Instead, the police were called and a disturbance report was filed.

The city of Ferguson says it’s working to resolve the matter and is waiting for wildlife crews to clear the home.
