A fan threw a green sex toy on the field during the Cleveland Browns vs. Cincinnati Bengals game at Huntington Bank Field on Sunday. A referee threw the object to the sideline, and a security guard later moved it out of view.
The object was thrown during a Bengals drive in the second quarter. It appeared to come from the Dawg Pound, which is the Browns fan section located at the East end zone.
A similar object was also spotted on the field in Indianapolis during the Colts’ game against the Miami Dolphins game, according to posts on social media. A green sex toy was also thrown on the field during a preseason matchup between the Minnesota Vikings and Tennessee Titans in August.
The WNBA dealt with multiple instances of sex toys being thrown onto the court this summer. The first instance happened in late July in Atlanta during a game between the Golden State Valkyries and Atlanta Dream. Police in Crawford County, Ga., arrested Delbert Carver, 23, and charged him with disorderly conduct, public indecency/incident exposure and criminal trespass, according to court records.
The incidents led to several other arrests. Kaden Lopez, 18, was arrested at a Phoenix Mercury game after police said he threw a sex toy that hit a man and his 9-year-old niece. In August, the New York Police Department arrested a 32-year-old man from Ohio for allegedly throwing a sex toy that hit other fans at Barclays Center during a game between the Dallas Wings and New York Liberty earlier that month.
The Athletic reported in August that the WNBA incidents appear to be tied to a cryptocurrency group using them to generate memes for publicity and potential monetary gain.
