Bass Pro Shops Night Race
The Bass Pro Shops Night Race is the third NASCAR Cup Championship Playoffs race and the final race in the Round of 16. That means that four drivers will be eliminated from championship consideration.
It is a slightly quicker turnaround for the drivers, as this is a Saturday night race at Bristol Motor Speedway. This is considered one of the sport’s signature events in “The Last Great Colosseum”, a very, very loud racetrack that is often well-attended. This is Race 29 of 36 for this season.

2025 NASCAR Cup Series Standings
The race winners so far are William Byron (2), Kyle Larson (3), Christopher Bell (3), Denny Hamlin (5), Shane van Gisbergen (4), Ryan Blaney (2), Ross Chastain, Joey Logano, Austin Cindric, Josh Berry, Chase Briscoe (2), Chase Elliott, Bubba Wallace, and Austin Dillon through 28 points races. Hamlin scored his fifth win of the season last week in the Enjoy Illinois 300 in Madison at the World Wide Technology Raceway and now has the most wins of any driver this season.
With their wins in the Round of 16, Hamlin and Briscoe earned an automatic pass to the Round of 12. Many others are safe based on their point totals, but others are not.
All playoff drivers had their point totals set to 2000 and then bonus points accumulated during the season were then added. The bottom four in points of the playoff drivers will be cut from contention after each round of three races.
Denny Hamlin 2120
Chase Briscoe 2115
Kyle Larson 2103
Bubba Wallace 2093
Ryan Blaney 2085
William Byron 2082
Tyler Reddick 2080
Chase Elliott 2071
Joey Logano 2064
Ross Chastain 2062
Austin Ciindric 2054
Austin Dillon 2043
Shane van Gisbergen 2039
Alex Bowman 2019
Josh Berry 2009
Given that this is an oval track, van Gisbergen is a long shot to win and accumulate enough points to stay alive. He has only gained 12 points in two points races so far, while Bowman has gained 11 and Berry has gained one.
Briscoe had a clean sweep at Darlington, winning the first and second stages, plus he led the most laps and won the race. Hamlin won Stage 1 and the finishing stage last week. He, Briscoe, and Wallace are the only playoff-eligible drivers with two top-10 finishes in the two playoff races.

Bass Pro Shops Night Race Winners
Bristol gets two races per year, so we have plenty of data for this week. Larson has won this race in two of the last four years, with Buescher and Hamlin in between. Hamlin also won this race back in 2019 and 2012. Logano had two wins in the 2010s as well.
In the spring race, Larson was victorious earlier this year. Hamlin won last year. The three races prior in the spring were run on the dirt track, so those data points are pretty irrelevant.
