MADISON, Ala. (WAFF) – The top brass from U.S. Space Command spent the day Monday with local leaders about the impacts North Alabama could face when the headquarters is set up on Redstone Arsenal.
Commander General Stephen Whiting and Chief Master Sergeant Jacob Simmons spent the morning with Madison Mayor Paul Finley about the plans when HQ sets up shop in Huntsville.
During this meeting, the trio talked about key infrastructure projects that could help lighten the load when thousands of new residents come to town.
They also discussed the current state of schools and potential expansions that could be necessary with the growing population.
Huntsville mayor Tommy Battle got a similar visit Monday.
His office says General Whiting and Chief Master Sergeant Jacob Simmons stopped by City Hall to discuss the formal transition of Space Command’s permanent headquarters.
