The estranged husband of tech company executive Kristin Cabot is speaking out for the first time after his wife was spotted cozying up to her boss at a Coldplay concert in July.
A spokesperson for Andrew Cabot, who is the CEO of Privateer Rum, told People in a Monday statement his client had been “privately and amicably separated” from Kristin Cabot for “several weeks” before the controversy erupted.
“Their decision to divorce was already underway prior to that evening,” the spokesperson said. “Now that the divorce filing is public, Andrew hopes this provides respectful closure to speculation and allows his family the privacy they’ve always valued.”
They went on to note: “No further public comment will be made.”
Kristin Cabot, who served as chief people officer at Astronomer, sparked a media firestorm this summer when she and her company’s CEO, Andy Byron, were seen embracing on a kiss cam at Coldplay’s July 16 concert at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts.
The pair’s questionable body language in the video prompted Coldplay frontman Chris Martin to joke: “Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy.”
The footage of Byron and Kristin Cabot went viral online, after which the pair resigned from their respective roles at Astronomer, a data operations company with offices in New York and San Francisco, among other cities.
Neither Byron nor Cabot has spoken publicly about the nature of their relationship in the weeks since the incident.
In a July 25 statement to HuffPost acknowledging Byron’s departure, however, Astronomer said it was “committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding,” adding: “Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability, and recently, that standard was not met.”
Last week, it was confirmed that Kristin Cabot had filed a petition for divorce from Andrew Cabot on Aug. 13 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. According to NBC News, the divorce process remains ongoing.
Returning to the concert stage in Madison, Wisconsin, days after the incident, Martin cheekily gave concertgoers a heads-up that they could appear on the massive screen during the show.
