RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) – Three major championship winners have all committed to compete in the 2025 Dominion Energy Charity Classic next October.
Golf fans can expect to see Stewart Cink, Ernie Els and Darren Clarke at the green on Oct. 16-19.
“We are excited to welcome three major champions as our first commitments for the 2025 Dominion Energy Charity Classic,” said Steve Schoenfeld, Executive Director of the tournament. “Stewart, Ernie and Darren are all enjoying outstanding seasons and each resides inside the top 10 of the Schwab Cup rankings, so they each have high hopes of winning the Charles Schwab Cup this year.”
The 10th edition of the Charity Classic will be at the Country Club of Virginia’s James River Course as the top 72 players on the PGA TOUR Champions begin the playoffs for the Charles Schwab Cup.
Cink won the 2009 Open Championship. He’s already secured three wins in the Champions Tour.
His first two came at the Ally Challenge in 2024 and 2025. Cink is currently second in the Charles Schwab Cup standings.
Els started the season of electric, literally, with a win at the 2025 Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai. He has ten top ten finishes this year.
Currently, Els is fifth in the Schwab Cup standings.
Clarke is a fan-favorite to win the tournament. He picked up his Champions Tour win at the American Family Insurance Championship earlier this year with partner Thomas Bjørn.
Clarke is currently tenth in the standings.
