Pat Cash knows what it takes to win a Grand Slam title as a former Wimbledon champion.
Cash played during a completely different era, winning his only major title at Wimbledon in 1987.
The Australian now comments on the current landscape of tennis as a pundit and commentator, with Cash full of praise for Iga Swiatek after her Wimbledon victory.
While this was Swiatek’s first Wimbledon title, she had won a Grand Slam before, and now Cash has predicted two WTA players to win a major for the first time in the future.

The women’s singles final at Wimbledon this year was over in under an hour, with Swiatek thrashing Amanda Anisimova.
Despite not winning a single game in her first Grand Slam final, Cash has insisted his belief that Anisimova will give herself more chances to win a major in the future.
Cash made some strong comments about Mirra Andreeva after she lost her quarterfinal match at Wimbledon this year, but he has now also backed the Russian teenager as a future Grand Slam champion.
“Iga Swiatek, well what an incredible performance,” Cash said in a video on his Instagram. “Junior Wimbledon champion, it was just a matter of time until she sort of cracked the grass at the main tour level, losing only two games in two matches.
“You know, she is the best athlete that is out there…[Aryna] Sabalenka is of course big and powerful, but doesn’t quite move like Iga.
“Her intensity…I love her intensity, the way she hits the ball and plays and her ruthlessness in the final against Anisimova, who will be back. You know, I think it was just a bit too much for her.
“She didn’t actually hit the ball that badly, she just kept missing and then it got worse and worse and worse. But her and Andreeva, I think we will see as Grand Slam champions and finalists in the near future, so well done to Iga.”
Best Grand Slam results of the current WTA top 10
After winning her first title in 13 months, Swiatek has moved back up to world number three in the WTA rankings and has extended her lead as the player inside the top 10 with the most Grand Slams.
There are currently four Grand Slam champions inside the WTA top 10, and every player has at least reached one major semifinal in their career.
Anisimova had reached the Roland Garros semifinals as a teenager in 2019, but she has now improved on that at Wimbledon.
While Cash’s other pick, Andreeva, achieved her best result at a major tournament so far at Roland Garros last year when she reached the semifinals.
