Organizers ready to welcome authors, readers to Mississippi Book Festival

Final preparations were being made ahead of the Mississippi Book Festival.The event is Saturday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on the South Steps of the state Capitol.The festival, known as the literary lawn party, aims to unite readers and authors and celebrate books.Rebecca Hardy, development director of the Mississippi Book Festival, said, “We are so excited. We always love getting to plan. We love the excitement of bringing people together.”There will be panels and guest speakers, including reporter and author Jerry Mitchell, Natchez Mayor Dan Gibson and former Mississippi Book Festival Executive Director Holly Lange.Hardy said this will be the 11th year of the book festival.
