Gay books, a gift
My first gay book,
I read till 2am
then cried till 4
and the next morning
when my roommate left,
blasted Lady Gaga
and let myself thing maybe… maybe…
it’s not a bad thing
My second gay book
made me the worst bookseller
Barnes and Noble’s ever seen
sneaking off to read The Essential Dykes
to Watch Out For,
my cartoon friends saying, tell them,
tell them today
My 50th gay book
was about penguins, read to a 2nd grade class
a little girl walked up after
to tell me she had two dads
like it was the best news
in the world
A school librarian told me the gay books
Are the most stolen
but she replaces them always,
considers it a good thing
that they found the right kid
considers it
a gift
