Indiana men’s basketball guard Lamar Wilkerson hasn’t forgotten where he came from.
A former Sam Houston star, Wilkerson spent three seasons with the Bearkats before entering the transfer portal this past offseason, ultimately choosing to spend his final year of eligibility with the Hoosiers. That choice, of course, came with a considerable boost in his earning potential through his name, image and likeness.

One of the first moves he made with that money was giving back to Sam Houston, sending six figures to the Bearkats, according to an interview with Rob Dauster and Jeff Goodman on the Field of 68.
“I did it out of love, man,” Wilkerson said. “I did it out of love for coach [Chris] Mudge, for just Sam Houston, I’d been there for three years, you know, so it was home for me.”
Wilkerson said he got to know plenty of people in the Sam Houston community from fans to donors and wanted to give back because he wants to see success for the Bearkats moving forward.
