Jeff Stankiewicz is out as Enfinger’s crew chief and Michael Shelton is in, CR7 Motorsports confirmed Monday.
“Jeff has played an essential role in our growth and success,” said team owner Codie Rohrbaugh. “His leadership and dedication helped position our team to win races and contend for championships. We are grateful for everything he has contributed to CR7 Motorsports and wish him the very best moving forward.”
Stankiewicz and Enfinger joined CR7 Motorsports’ No. 9 team together in 2024. In their first season, they earned two ins, eight top-five finishes and 13 top-10s in 23 races – and made the Championship 4 appearance.
This season, the pairing made the playoffs again – with seven playoff points – and were only one top-five finish and one top-10 finish away from matching 2024. However, the pairing is winless and recently finished 21st-place finish in crunch time at Bristol – one of Enfinger’s best tracks.
“Jeff and I have shared a lot of success together,” Enfinger said. “His knowledge, preparation and commitment were big strengths for our team. I’ll always be appreciative of the effort he put into helping us compete at a high level.”
Interim crew chief Michael Shelton recently worked with Carson Kvapil in a one-off start with CR7 at Richmond this season. Shelton has seven Truck wins, including six with James Buescher whom he won the 2012 championship with.
Heading into a playoff elimination race at New Hampshire with Shelton at the helm, Enfinger is fifth in points, 29 points above the current cutline. If there is a winner from below the cutline, he still has a 15-point buffer to work with.
Enfinger finished fourth in his only Truck start at New Hampshire. It came in 2017 when the Trucks last raced at the track.
It’s unknown where Stankiewicz will land.
Before moving to CR7, Stankiewicz served as crew chief for Sheldon Creed at Richard Childress Racing from 2022 to 2023 in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and GMS Racing from 2020 to 2021 in the Truck Series. Stankiewicz and Creed won eight Truck races and the 2021 championship together.
