The zoomies are one undeniable sign of a happy dog, but did you know that other species express their energy and joy this way, too? Visitors to Yellowstone National Park found this out in the sweetest way when they witnessed a baby bison’s irresistible case of the zoomies, and now the cute moment is going viral online.
When you see the baby sprinting across the pasture, you’ll understand why everyone’s so in love with this tiny bison! Adventurer @kadyfalon shared the priceless video on September 12, and everyone is so glad that she did.
This is too cute! It doesn’t get any more magical than a baby animal frolicking in a field, and this was no exception. He pranced and zoomed all around the pasture before pausing to ask his friend to play, and if that’s not a wholesome childhood for any species, I don’t know what is.
Viewers had a field day swooning over this adorable baby bison “testing out his abilities,” but my favorite comment was an iconic dad joke from @hikingcalifornia. He wrote, “They move so fast, no wonder they call them ‘bye, son.”

LOL! That comment alone made me smile almost as much as the bison calf himself, though I’m sure the joy of watching a video doesn’t even begin to compare with the joy of running free in the sunshine with family and friends. This baby is living his best life!
Inspiring Bison Conservation
This priceless moment was incredibly moving for commenters like Nicole, who considered the centuries of hardship this species has been through.
She wrote, “Imagine, before the colonization of the United States, this was a common sight, along with wild horses running free across the land.” That must have been a breathtaking scene, like something straight out of a movie!
Thankfully, videos like this are great reminders to support the conservation of species like bison. While these animals were brought back from the brink of extinction in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, ongoing efforts to protect them and their homelands are just as important today.
