ORLANDO, Fla. – Historic Dubsdread Golf Course in Orlando’s College Park neighborhood, which has welcomed golfers for 101 years, is getting a nearly $4 million makeover that blends preservation with cutting-edge technology.
The overhaul adds a new Learning Center and a covered, redesigned driving range with 40 bays. Thirty-six of the new bays will feature Trackman golf simulators, providing golfers with swing analysis, tournaments and multiple course options to play. Doppler radar will track each shot from the range, which also features a new “19th Hole” serving snacks and beverages. The goal: keeping the course’s history intact while giving families and serious players alike a modern, social place to play.

The Learning Center, built beside the driving range, will feature multiple training areas where students can work on their game all under the supervision of trained instructors.
“So we’ll be able to give the classes, they can hit full shots out into the range, get all that instruction, and then just turn around and now work on their short game shots on the practice green,” said Dubsdread General Manager Rodney Reifsnider.
If the weather gets rough, instruction and practice won’t stop. New indoor air-conditioned simulated tee boxes will allow players to step inside and take full swings in a climate-controlled environment. These booths are also powered by Trackman technology, which breaks down a golfer’s swing into 44 separate metrics. PGA Director of Instruction at Dubsdread, Steve Brewer, says the system tracks variables like ball speed, club path and face angle – giving instructors and students precise data to tailor lessons.
Outside, the driving range’s covered bays will use Doppler radar to track every shot. Players can choose straightforward practice scenarios, compete in games, or play a round of golf on a simulated famous course from a screen using Trackman technology. Trackman will also map Dubsdread so players at other Trackman facilities can download and play the course virtually.
The renovation also adds a social element. Next to the chipping green, the new 19th Hole will serve up chips, snacks and beverages.

Orlando City Commissioner Robert Stuart says the upgrades aim to keep Dubsdread’s legacy intact while adding amenities that draw new generations.
“This brings the community together,” said Stuart. “We want families to come out on an evening and sit around and hit golf balls the same way you would at Topgolf.”
Construction began in April with a $3.8 million investment from golf course revenues.
City officials are hopeful it’ll be ready for a grand opening in October.
