ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — A local author is releasing a new book with the stories of people who survived Hurricane Helene.
The author Julianne Rhodes grew up in Canton and still lives there part-time.

Last year, Rhodes released a book called ‘Mountain Tsunamis’ that told the stories of people who were impacted by Tropical Storm Fred in 2021.
When Helene hit western North Carolina a month after Rhodes released ‘Mountain Tsunamis’, readers requested a follow-up book.
“Hurricane Helene took some beautiful, beautiful people from us, and this book is in memory of all the people who passed away during Helene,” Rhodes said.

Rhodes says the book is not only about loss, but it also provides stories about rescues, volunteers, and survivors.
