1 Paige Bueckers — Re: “Disappointing season still feels like a foundation — Injuries sink playoff hopes, but team sees reasons for optimism,” by Myah Taylor, Sept. 11 SportsDay column.

Congratulations to Paige Bueckers on her incredible rookie season with the WNBA Dallas Wings! She is truly deserving of the awards and accolades she will receive.

Bueckers is a generational talent, in all phases of the game. She is the type of player you build a team and franchise around. She also inspires the fan base, from young girls and boys to this 67-year-old armchair athlete.

As a Dallas sports fan, my hope is that Bueckers has a long and successful career with the Dallas Wings. After a few WNBA championships and Olympic gold medals, she will then get her very own statue, just like her fellow University of Connecticut Husky Sue Bird in Seattle, and our own hometown hoops hero, Dirk Nowitzki.

I’m sticking with Bueckers and the Wings, confident that they will figure this thing out.

2 The Addison Rotary Club — On Sept. 8, the Addison Rotary Club held its 35th annual golf tournament. Under perfect weather conditions, several hundred golfers enjoyed a day of good food, fellowship and competition.

The club members and volunteers combined to make sure the day went smoothly from registration to the celebration of the winners.

The beneficiary of the club’s yearlong planning and efforts is the Ronald McDonald House of Dallas.

Three cheers to the Rotary Club, whose motto of “Service Above Self” was on full display as we came together as a community to raise money and awareness for the charity we support.

3 Ed Jackson — Re: “Finding kindness everywhere,” by Ed Jackson, Aug. 20 Letters.

Ed Jackson’s comments brought such warmth to my heart and gave me a big smile while sitting outside in the morning mist in Steeler country. I’m on vacation and of course I brought my Dallas Morning News with me.

We need more people in the world who would open the door for Jackson and for everyone else. Wow, all those marathons!

You, sir, are amazing! Cheers to Ed!
