Former Boston television anchor Liz Walker will visit Wellesley Books in Wellesley’s Central Plaza at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 26, and discuss her new book, “No One Left Alone: A Story of How Community Helps Us Heal,” according to a community announcement.

Walker, the first Black woman to anchor the evening news in Greater Boston, will discuss how the book explores how a community can help people heal from trauma, drawing from Walker’s own experiences in Roxbury.

Walker became a pastor in Roxbury after her journalism career, where she connected with families marked by both trauma and courage, according to the announcement.

“Liz Walker accomplishes a difficult literary and theological balance with stunning clarity,” said Rev. Dr. Otis Moss III, pastor of Chicago’s Trinity United Church of Christ, in a statement.

In Wellesley, Walker will converse with Lisa Hughes, a journalist and anchor for WBZ-TV News, according to the announcement.

Tickets for the event are $5 and can be used toward the purchase of Walker’s book. Tickets can be purchased online or by calling the store at 781-431-1160.
